When No. 15 Michigan travels to Norman to face No. 18 Oklahoma on Saturday night, it won’t just be another non-conference game, it’s a rare heavyweight meeting between two of college football’s most storied programs.

To preview the matchup, Michigan play-by-play voice Doug Karsch joined OU voice Toby Rowland, offering insight into the Wolverines’ new-look offense, head coach Sherrone Moore’s leadership, and the atmosphere he expects inside Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
Karsch admitted this is one he’s been waiting for.
“I can’t believe these two teams are getting together and I can’t believe I get to be there for it,” Karsch said. “As a fan of college football, it doesn’t get much better than Michigan and Oklahoma under the lights.”

All eyes will be on Michigan’s true freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood, who passed for 251 yards and a touchdown in his debut last week. Karsch said one moment stood out above the rest.
“There was a key third-and-14 where most teams would hand it off and punt, but they put the ball in his hands. He delivered a strike. That told me how much faith they already have in him.”
Moore, who once played offensive line at Oklahoma under Brent Venables, is in his first season as Michigan’s head coach. Karsch believes his steady presence has helped the program transition smoothly after Jim Harbaugh’s departure.
“He’s putting his own stamp on the program. He’s comfortable, recruiting at a high level, and building a staff that complements him.”
Karsch spotlighted the battles in the trenches as a deciding factor but also sees OU’s explosive wide receivers testing Michigan’s experienced secondary.
“Those trench battles are going to be fascinating to watch. That will decide how this game goes.”
Beyond Saturday’s result, Karsch noted this is the type of game that can shape a season.
“This could springboard them into the conversation. With six road games this year, you want this one in the win column before the grind really starts.”
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT Saturday in Norman
