The Northeast Health and Wellness Center in Oklahoma City has a no-cost program for those impacted by Parkinson's Disease and their caregivers.
Every Wednesday, there are one-on-one strengthening physical therapy sessions from 9:00am-1:00pm.
The physical therapy sessions are designed to improve balance, mobility, strength, and overall quality of life.
Group strengthening classes are available on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesday of every month from 2:00pm-3:00pm.
“This is going to help them get their independence back and help them have hope in doing what they want to do in life,” said Dr. Felicia Flowers.
There is a mental wellness support group for people with Parkinson's on the 1st Wednesday of the month and another mental wellness group specifically for caregivers on the 3rd Wednesday. Both groups meet from 2:00pm-3:00pm on their respective days.
This program is supported by a community grant from the Parkinson's Foundation and runs until June of 2026.
“We’re only one of two sites in Oklahoma that has been awarded this grant,” said Dr. Williams. “There is a very big need for this.”
The Wellness Center is located at 3748 N Lincoln Boulevard in Oklahoma City.
