A former Catoosa middle school teacher is charged with molesting a student who was 13 years old at the time. Police say the assault happened at the teacher's apartment in Owasso and that the teacher continued to message the student afterward.

Owasso Police arrested Megan Porter after they said she sexually assaulted the student in 2022.

What does the probable cause affidavit say?

The affidavit says Porter was hanging out with the student inside her classroom on the last day of school. It says Porter gave the student her phone number.

It says Porter told the student that contact would not be illegal anymore because she was no longer the student's teacher. The affidavit says Porter and the student began texting and using Snapchat to message.

It says Porter told the student to lie to her aunt about staying the night at a friend's house. Instead, the affidavit says Porter picked the student up and they went to Porter's apartment in Owasso.

The affidavit says Porter kissed the student, then molested the student. The student told investigators they barely slept on the night of the assault, and wanted to leave Porter's apartment the next day because the student felt weird.

Investigators say Porter sent nude pictures to the student and videos of her using drugs. It says Porter asked why the student did not talk to her anymore.

The affidavit says Porter told the student that she loved and missed them.

The affidavit says Porter joined the Air Force, and when questioned about the incident, she eventually admitted to kissing and inappropriately touching the student.

Owasso Police warn parents

Owasso Police say it is a huge red flag for a teacher to message a student and this is a reminder for parents to pay attention.

"Always know what they're doing on it, what apps they're using," said Lt. Nick Boatman, Owasso Police. "There's all kinds of parenting apps where you can see videos, you can see text messages coming in."

News On 6 called Porter to get her side of the story, but she declined to comment.
