A stolen puppy is back home safe thanks to a fast response from Tulsa Police Sunday evening, July 27.

Officers say the dog was taken from its yard around 5:40 p.m., prompting an urgent call from the pet’s owner just moments after he witnessed an unfamiliar woman walking off with his dog.

How the theft happened

The puppy’s owner told dispatchers he had seen a woman take the dog and leave the area. He immediately contacted police to report what he’d witnessed.

Tulsa Police’s Ida Squad responded quickly, canvassing the area to search for the suspect.

How police tracked her down

Officers credit their quick response and teamwork for locating both the woman and the puppy. They were able to track the suspect shortly after the report was made.

Thanks to that timely action, the dog was safely recovered and returned to its rightful owner.

An emotional reunion

Tulsa Police described the owner’s reaction as unforgettable.

“The look of relief on the owner’s face when they were reunited was priceless,” the department said.

Police offer a reminder

Officers used the moment to encourage the public to stay alert and report suspicious behavior.

“Remember, if you see anything suspicious, don’t hesitate to reach out,” police said on social media. “We’re here to help!”
