Tulsa County Prosecutors charge a woman with two misdemeanors, three months after Tulsa Police say she crashed into a man who was driving to work.
19-year-old Naila Keys is charged with driving without a license and without insurance.
The report says Keys told an officer she had been drinking, but she wasn't charged with DUI.
Rowdy Waits has been waiting three months for some type of justice after having his car totaled, but he feels like the other driver is still getting let off the hook.
Rowdy Waits was on his way to work as an EMT in Tulsa when a report says 19-year-old Naila Keys hit him on April 6th.
"I see it all the time. Every weekend we run around to driving under the influence, and it just hit a little different when it happened to me. You know, it opened my mind of what other people have to go through when these things aren't dealt with," said Waits.
The report says Keys told an officer she wasn't sure what happened, and she had been drinking.
It also says she didn't have a license or insurance.
Wait's car was totaled.
It took three months until Keys was charged.
News On 6 asked TPD last month why charges hadn't been filed or an arrest made; they didn't have answers, and some investigations take longer than others.
"So about a month after the incident, I just kind of gave up, until my wife started messaging you guys, and you guys have been the only help since," said Waits.
Waits says Keys not getting charged with a DUI sends a bad message.
"I think that that could lead to her thinking that, you know, driving after drinking under the influence is maybe okay, considering she wasn't charged for it," said Waits.
Now, Rowdy and Alycia Waits are celebrating their third wedding anniversary in Florida, relaxing with their family. They say they need it after the stress of the last three months.
"I do have to take some days off work to take my wife to her appointments, and then pick up extra overtime after that, taking more time away from them," said Waits.
News On 6 spoke with Naila Keys on the phone, and she told us she has no comment.
Keys wasn't tested at the scene for a DUI.
TPD says they're asking the captain in charge for more details about how the case was worked.
The Waits family has a GoFundMe here to help raise funds for a new car.
