A mobile market is back in action this summer, rolling through Tulsa neighborhoods with a mission: nourish minds and bodies.
Global Gardens’ Veggie Van is once again hitting the road, following alongside Gaining Ground’s Book Bus to deliver fresh produce and free books to families.
The initiative kicked off Wednesday, June 25, with 13 scheduled stops throughout Tulsa.
The produce isn’t store-bought—it’s grown and harvested by local elementary and middle school students attending Global Gardens’ summer camp. These young gardeners are getting hands-on lessons in agriculture, sustainability and community service.
Both the Veggie Van and Book Bus will operate on a first-come, first-served basis at each stop. Families can expect a variety of fresh, local produce and a selection of free children’s books.
The route includes 13 locations, ensuring broad access across the Tulsa area.
This joint initiative aligns with Global Gardens’ mission to empower students through garden-based learning. By partnering with Gaining Ground’s Book Bus, the program also promotes literacy and lifelong learning in underserved communities.
