The One Badge Foundation will present a $20,000 check to the Drumright Police Department this Saturday to help improve the department's equipment. The donation will support the purchase of less-lethal options such as shields, pepper balls, Tasers, and guns, giving officers better tools for critical incidents.
The check presentation will take place during the foundation’s annual "Back the Blue" event at Chandler Park, set to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday. Bobby Bryan, the founder of One Badge Foundation and a Sergeant with the Tulsa Police Department, emphasized the importance of providing smaller departments with access to critical equipment.
"We saw a need in law enforcement, and the need is officers need to have more options when it comes to doing their job," Bryan explained. "Our goal is to give smaller departments more options when it comes to critical incidents. Some departments can't afford less lethal options, and so when there's a critical incident, something going on that's high Stress, we want to give these smaller departments a lot of less lethal options, so the lethal option isn't the only option."
This weekend’s event will feature a bike rally beginning at 10 a.m. with live music from Cody West and James Robert Webb. The event is open to both bikers and families, with activities including a police SWAT vehicle display and a splash pad for children. Mission BBQ will provide food, and merchandise will be available for purchase.
Though the donation is for Drumright, the event is open to the entire Tulsa community. People can visit the Facebook event page for more information.
