Broken Arrow Football is getting a unique perspective from the pros. It's all thanks to the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship.
"Everything was like I said, everything was everything. The drill work, just being able to help with the rookies and, to even be able just to coach a little bit." said Jeremy Smith "I mean, that was just awesome. Help with the drills and even get my own feedback it was just a blessing."
Tiger Running Backs Coach Jeremy Smith spent the spring with the reigning Super Bowl champs in Philadelphia, where he worked alongside NFL coaches, gaining first-hand insight.
"The biggest thing that I took from it is fundamentals and technique is the biggest thing. You know, especially at that level where everything is serious. I mean, it's a job."
Today, he brings those elite coaching principles to the high school level, emphasizing discipline and player growth, both on and off the field.
Travis Hill said, "He brings a lot out to the table."
Head coach Travis Hill sees the change in Smith’s coaching style.
"It's an easy diagnosis for me to go out there for two or three days and see that he's the best running backs coach I've had on staff. He's the best running backs I've been around as I walk around and watch other staffs." added Hill
"So coaching is not just coaching ball. You know we're coaching life. And I think that's the biggest thing. I think one thing that a lot of coaches really just forget to do is to pour life into their actual players. This is bigger than the game of football." said Smith
Smith’s approach reflects a deep commitment to developing young athletes with a mindset and work ethic built for the next level.
"I take coaching very, very seriously. Right? We're actually trying to raise young men. And that's the biggest thing. So I feel like if you can raise their mind and raise their level of thinking everything else, take care of yourself."
This fellowship has empowered Jeremy with new perspectives, stronger connections, and renewed purpose. He said the impact he has in coaching moving forward will go far beyond this experience.
