Body camera video shows Rogers County deputies arresting a man in a pond in Inola, who they say first threatened to kill his son, then broke into a woman's home and tried to steal her car.
Jeremy Farar is a convicted felon, and deputies say that at first he refused to get out of the pond and told deputies to shoot him instead.
"His first comments were to the fact he wasn't coming out, he was going to make us shoot him, and when the dog arrived, that whole story changed. He decides there's a less painful way to get out of a farm pond," said Sheriff Scott Walton.
Deputies say they got a 911 call saying Jeremy Farar was pointing a gun at his son's head and threatening to kill him. Deputies say Farar then ran from the house.
While deputies were headed to the first 911 call, they got a second 911 call from a woman who was home alone who said a man broke into her house and was trying to steal her car keys.
"She actually told me she thought it was a relative coming in the house and she wasn't too alarmed at first, until he's yelling, screaming, cussing, and demanding her keys," said Sheriff Scott Walton.
Sheriff Walton says that the woman did the right thing and called 911 immediately.
"She said I at least wanted to get 911 into the phone so they would be on the way should he hurt me or kill me or anything else. Definitely, this lady is in fear for her life," said Walton.
Deputies say that as they were driving around looking for Farar, a deputy saw a man's head sticking out of a pond. They eventually got him to come out and arrested him.
Sheriff Walton says he's thankful no one was hurt in the crime spree.
"When we cover 711 square miles with four deputies, we are very thankful for the fact we could get somebody there as quickly as we did, and they knew what to do when they got there," said Walton.
Records show Farar has spent time in prison since 2000 for lewd molestation, failing to register as a sex offender, burglary and more.
Farar is now in the Rogers County jail for burglary, having a gun as a felon, resisting officers and assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
