Oklahoma City Thunder fans are fired up as the team hits the road for Game 3 of the NBA Finals Wednesday night in Indianapolis, and Tulsa businesses say they’re ready for the crowds.
At the YouthWorks court in Tulsa, the Thunder logo sets the stage for some friendly pregame competition.
Kingston and Terence, two young Thunder fans, spent the afternoon shooting hoops, and trading predictions.
“I like how hype they get at their games and then good shots that they make,” said Kingston Hardy.
Even if the Thunder face a tough start, these fans are sticking with their team.
“I think they'll start off by losing but at least catch up,” Kingston added. “If they lose, at least they got a couple points.”
Downtown, businesses like Elgin Park are also getting ready for a full house as fans gather to watch the Finals on TV.
“We've been packed to the brim, really fun, people cheering and yelling the whole time,” said bartender Laney Lawson.
Lawson says the energy around the Thunder’s playoff run has only grown, especially now that the team is on basketball’s biggest stage.
“This has been a big deal since they're in the Finals,” she said. “For the last several games, it's been building and building every time.”
Staff at Elgin Park say they’ve brought in extra help and expect another big night. Fans planning to watch the game in public are encouraged to arrive well ahead of the 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
