Oklahomans are heading to the polls Tuesday, May 13, to cast votes in a range of important contests, including state legislative races and local propositions that could impact education, infrastructure and public safety in several counties.

Here's a look at what voters in Green Country will decide before polls close at 7 p.m.

State Senate District 8: Three Candidates on the Ballot

Voters in Okmulgee, McIntosh, Okfuskee, and parts of Creek and Muskogee counties are choosing a new state senator for District 8.

The candidates include:

  1. Bryan Logan (Republican)
  2. Nathan Brewer (Democrat)
  3. Steve Sanford (Independent)

This race will determine who will represent the district in the Oklahoma Senate moving forward.

Two GOP House Runoffs in Tulsa, Rogers Counties

Two Republican runoffs are taking place in state House races:

  1. District 71 (Tulsa County): Beverly Atteberry faces Tania Garza.
  2. District 74 (Tulsa and Rogers counties): Sheila Vancuren is running against Kevin Wayne Norwood.

These races will finalize the GOP nominees ahead of the general election.

Local Propositions: Funding Measures on the Ballot

Several local communities are voting on propositions that could affect funding for schools, public safety and infrastructure:

  1. Okmulgee County: Voters will decide whether to approve increased funding for the Green Country Technology Center.
  2. Spavinaw: Two sales tax proposals are on the ballot to help fund the local police department.
  3. Tahlequah: A proposed sales tax would fund street improvements and infrastructure upgrades.

Voters must cast their ballots at their assigned polling places. Voting is not allowed at the Tulsa County Election Board on election day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
