Oklahoma Electric Cooperative is warning customers of a phone scam demanding payment.

The company says the scammers call, claiming OEC has merged with Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OG&E), and threaten to cut off power if you do not pay them immediately.

Company officials say OEC has not merged with another company, and officials do not demand immediate payment over the phone.

If you receive a suspicious call, you can call the company directly at (405) 321-2024 to verify.
