An expansion project for an Oklahoma City youth homeless shelter has been approved, city leaders say.

The Oklahoma City Council approved Sisu Youth Services' request to rezone the lot next to its current facility near Northwest 30th Street and North Pennsylvania Avenue.

The center says the extra space will allow them to help more unhoused youths.

However, nearby residents have pushed back, citing safety concerns related to the project.
