U-Haul announces free storage options for those affected by Oklahoma wildfires

U-Haul announced multiple locations across Oklahoma are available to provide 30 days of free self-storage container usage to residents affected by the wildfires and windstorms, the company announced.

Extreme winds sparked an outbreak of more than 100 fires across 44 counties on Friday, according to the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, leading to the evacuations of several communities.

On Saturday, three U-Haul companies in Oklahoma opened 16 locations across the state for those affected by wildfires and extreme winds, free of charge.

“These fires have devastated communities and affected a lot of lives,” U-Haul Company of Northwest Oklahoma City President Kris Kleck said. “Our teams want to help. We’ll be there for anyone who needs a secure space to store their belongings during the recovery at no cost for one month.” 

The 30 days free offer applies to new self-storage and U-Box rentals, but is based on availability.

The U-Box portable container offer is for on-site storage, the companies say.
