It’s a flight over 50 years in the making.
“As the years went by, I never had anybody to me any kind of contact about this person,” said Denise Oliver.
That person is her sister from her father’s second marriage, and Denise Oliver had had only heard about her through her childhood.
“No name, nothing about her, no how to get to her, none of that,” said Oliver.
But she did have determination and her faith.
“I’ve prayed for her for about fifty years. And I went through ancestry.com,” said Oliver.
Eventually, Oliver received a response to a text she sent to a lady asking if she knew her sister. That person was her sister’s daughter-in-law, connecting her to Apostle Geraldine Williams-Dotson in California, and with a DNA match to confirm it, she had found her sister, and the two have been in constant contact since August.
“If it’s not every day, it’s every other day,” said Oliver.
Bringing her to Will Rogers airport, waiting for flight 6229 from Los Angeles.
“I waited for over 50 years for this all to take place and never knew of this person, but God brought it all together,” said Oliver.
With anticipation about to overtake her, the moment finally arrives.
“This is my sister that I’ve been waiting on forever,” said Oliver.
With plenty of hugs and plenty of tears, the bond was clear.
Geraldine Williams-Dotson grew up as an only child, not even knowing she had siblings until she was older. Making this moment a little unbelievable.
“We were counting down the days, and I said I’ll be there tomorrow, nothing is going to stop me, I’ll be there,” said Williams-Dotson.
The sisters say they have some plans but really just want to spend as much time as they possibly can together.
