Two Moore police officers crashed into each other outside a school in Norman on Wednesday morning while pursuing a suspect in a stolen Jeep. The suspect crashed along Interstate 35 and was taken into custody.

Police said 28-year-old Joshua Fardadfar likely did not stop when an officer attempted to pull him over not only because he was driving a stolen car but because he was wanted for crimes out of Oklahoma County.

News 9 was at the end of the pursuit outside Community Christian School on I-35 in Norman. Moore police officials said one of their officers attempted to pull over Fardadfar on a traffic stop near Northwest 23rd Street and Santa Fe Avenue. The suspect refused to stop and led officers on a brief pursuit into Norman. Police said at one point the suspect was driving on the wrong side of the interstate.

“It’s extremely dangerous regardless of what time of day it is,” said Lt. Eric Thomas, Moore Police Department. “That’s extremely dangerous to be going the wrong way on any street, let alone the highway.”

Police said the officers crashed into one another as they were pulling their cruisers over to chase the suspect on foot. Neither officer was hurt.

The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center on multiple charges stemming from the pursuit. Court records showed the pursuit suspect had a warrant for failing to appear at a court hearing in Oklahoma County for two felony charges.
