Chaos unfolded Saturday afternoon at the Kay Bailey Convention Center in Dallas when a fight between two individuals sparked fear of an active shooter.

Dallas Police say that several people were injured in the stampede of families and athletes running for safety. Authorities say that all injuries were non-life-threatening.

"Cheer is just, everyone is like a big family," Kym Hinton, an attendee at the competition, said. "There is no reason for anybody to have any hate or anything. It's just great competition."

According to police, the loud noise, which was mistaken for gunfire, was caused by two poles that were knocked to the ground during the altercation.

Multiple cheer teams from Oklahoma were in attendance.

All activities for Saturday have been canceled, and the competition will resume Sunday.
