Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) responded to growing concerns about potential layoffs at Tinker Air Force Base, emphasizing his commitment to monitoring the situation closely.
“I am aware of the concern of layoffs at Tinker Air Force Base. As the Representative for the base in Congress, I share these concerns and have been closely monitoring the situation,” said Cole in a statement.
He confirmed that his office has been in regular contact with base leadership but has yet to receive official confirmation on the number of probationary employees who may be affected.
“I will continue to be actively engaged in the situation, as I will always fight for Tinker Air Force Base and the critical role the base and its civilian employees play to safeguard our nation,” he added.

No layoffs have taken place so far. News 9 reached out to Tinker Air Force Base on Friday, when rumors first began to circulate. We were redirected to this statement from the United States Air Force:
"Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has indicated that the Pentagon is taking a deliberate, methodical approach to review its workforce and identify positions that may not directly contribute to warfighting success," the statement read. "There has been no direction to relieve Air Force employees at this time."
Base officials confirmed Monday that the statement is still in effect and that they have not been directed to relieve any Tinker employees.
