Oklahoma law enforcement are responding to crashes across the state, with multiple wrecks reported on highways and roadways.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is sharing the latest numbers of crashes, which measure in the hundreds.

As of Tuesday evening, OHP troopers reported they responded to 59 injury crashes, 237 non-injury crashes and 170 motorist assists.

Motorist assists include responses to drivers who have become stuck however, and do not indicate a crash.

The Oklahoma City Police Department was also assisting motorists in the Oklahoma City metro, however, there are often too many crashes for officers to respond to.

"Our officers have to weigh the balance between getting to an accident scene to help people exchange information or letting them clear the roadways themselves," OCPD Capt. Paul Frederickson said. "The volume of accidents becomes so high when weather changes like this that we can't get to every one of them."
