Ida Red Owner Finds Hidden Wedding Photo Inside Casa Bonita Treasure Chest

After the Ida Red Brookside location experienced a fire more than two months ago, the owner decided to do some redecorating.

Redecorating led to a discovery from a Tulsa restaurant that's been closed for a while, Casa Bonita.

What once was a place to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries now sits abandoned, a reminder of what it had once been. "I can't remember a lot of things, but I can remember Casa Bonita really well,” Angelene Wright, owner of Ida Red, said.

But although Wright may never eat there again, she wanted to preserve that memory.

"I can remember it so clearly and it makes me think of the best times,” Wright said.

Through a hunt on Facebook marketplace, Wright found the perfect way to honor one of her favorite parts of Tulsa's past: the original treasure chest which stood in the restaurant.

To Wright, it's not just a piece of furniture, but a bridge to her fondest memories.

"It's not just about that place,” Wright said. “It's like with our families or whatever that represented, even a childhood and a simpler time where raising the flag was such a fun time for me so that's really why I got it."

But inside, there was a mystery.

"Is there a story about why it's in the treasure chest,” Wright said. “I have no idea, but we would love to know."

She's not sure who the happy couple is but hopes to find them to take them back down memory lane too.

"Life is hard enough so you know let’s find those little pockets of joy and good feelings and things that bring us together even as Tulsans,” Wright said.

The store will reopen before Black Friday. She also purchased an old dunk tank sign from Bells Amusement Park and an old booth from Metro Diner.
