1 Hospitalized After Apartment Fire Displaces Nearly A Dozen

One person is hospitalized after an apartment fire early Monday near 17th Street and South Baltimore Avenue.

Firefighters said the fire started in a lower-level unit around 1 a.m. and spread quickly to an apartment above.

Fire crews arrived at the scene and contained the blaze within minutes, preventing further spread to other units.

About a dozen residents have been displaced.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
