Holiday Adventures: Silver Dollar City

USA Today just named Silver Dollar City's Christmas lights as America's Best Theme Park Holiday Event.

Silver Dollar City beat out places like Disney, SeaWorld, and Universal. From millions of lights to an eight-story Christmas tree, the holidays are special in this Branson park.

For many, seeing the lights is a family tradition.

"They're magical…brings out Christmastime. It's enjoyable; sparkles, and all the trees are lit up, family-friendly," said Muskogee resident Deborah Whitman.

"If you like Christmas, it's the place to come," Skiatook resident Tom Monkress said.

"It's like they're looking at something magical, and that's what we want them to feel like, like it's magical," Visual Design Manager Kelly Eutsler said.

A favorite spot for many is the Christmas in Midtown section of Silver Dollar City, which has one and a half million lights and 50-foot light tunnels.

Trevor and Rebekah Vent from Sperry brought their 8-month-old daughter Adelaide.

“We drive up here every year just to see them," Trevor said.

“I'm looking forward to all the other Christmases we can bring her to see the lights and enjoy family time," Rebekah said.

The couple says it brings so much joy to see the sparkle in their daughter’s eye.

If you connected all the lights, they would run 600 miles. That is enough to stretch from Branson to Tulsa and then back to Branson.

For an extra fee, you can get a tasting passport, which gets you access to 36 different places that offer Christmas-themed food and drinks.

There are plenty of things to tempt your taste buds and your hunger for a wholesome family experience.

There’s an eight-story Christmas tree with 300,000 lights. Each can do six million shades, and it's all set to music.

"When you see people, especially small children, and they come out here and they're just awestruck by sheer numbers of lights, it just kind a gets you,” Eutsler said.
