Muskogee Takes The 6A-2 Championship Title Against Stillwater

A nearly forty-year drought has ended for Muskogee's football program, taking down the Pioneers with a final score of 28-26.

Postseason football with two big-time state championship matchups on Friday in Edmond, starting in the afternoon.

1986 was the last time the Muskogee Roughers appeared in a state title game. They were taking on district foe the Stillwater Pioneers.

The Roughers were looking to take down the pioneers who were the reigning 6A-2 champions.

Second quarter, a tie ballgame at 14 apiece. Jamarian Ficklin found Ondraye Beasley and he did the rest. He cut through several defenders and dived on the pylon. 25-yard touchdown.

Third quarter, Ficklin grabbed his third rushing touchdown of the night from the one-yard line. Muskogee took the lead back.

With twenty seconds left, Pioneers had a chance to make it a two-point ballgame. Chance Acord handed it off to Holden Thompson, touchdown Stillwater.

And to tie it up and force the game into overtime, Roughers defense came up big. Thompson stopped at the one-yard line.

The Roughers won the program's fourth football title, taking down the Pioneers with a final score of 28-26.

A nearly forty-year drought has ended for Muskogee's football program and they headed home to celebrate.
