A man has been arrested in connection to an alleged assault and police chase in Stillwater.
Stillwater Police said at around 11:52 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon near North 3340 Road and East 16th Avenue.
Police said that Donald Laver had allegedly threatened to kill a female victim, hit her in the head with a pistol, and fired a gunshot into a wall near the victim.
Laver continued to allegedly assault the victim and prevented her from leaving the residence, police said.
Laver left the victim's residence before officers arrived on the scene.
The female victim was transported to the hospital and treated for injuries, according to police.
At around 8:20 a.m. Wednesday, a deputy with the Payne County Sheriff's Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a truck that was allegedly speeding, police said.
Laver then alluded the deputy, and a pursuit ensued, police said.
Laver then lost control of the truck and slid into a ditch near Fairgrounds and Glencoe roads and fled from the vehicle on foot.
Stillwater K9, the Stillwater Multi-Jurisdictional Special Operations Team and Stillwater Emergency Management assisted in the search for Laver.
Laver was located and arrested at around 12:15 p.m.
He was booked on the complaints of domestic assault and battery with a deadly weapon, domestic assault and battery by strangulation, a protective order violation resulting in physical injury, disrupting an emergency phone call, and threatening to perform an act of violence.
