MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma -- A Fort Gibson man died Tuesday after being shot by Muskogee police offcers.
Muskogee Police said the officer went to the business on a tip that the fugitive suspect was there.
Deputy Chief Johnny Teehee said officers were trying to arrest Brian Wayne Tackett, 42, at a business in the 5200 block of west Okmulgee Street.
"Basically didn't respond to officers' commands, reached into a sheath he had on his side and pulled out a knife," Teehee said. "When he did, the officers fired twice."
Both officers are on paid leave, pending results of a department investigation.
