An Edmond woman was killed after she crashed her vehicle in Payne County early Sunday morning.
It happened at 1:30 a.m. Sunday on State Highway 51, just west of State Highway 51C near Lake Carl Blackwell in Payne County.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 2009 Ford Focus driven by 29-year-old Christina Lynn Hill was eastbound on Highway 51 at a high rate of speed. Hill reportedly lost control of the car in a curve, and it ran off the roadway to the south.
The car then entered a broad slide, striking a tree.
Hill was pronounced dead at the scene due to massive injuries. She was pinned in the car for an hour before being freed by Stillwater firefighters. Hill was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
Hill's condition at the time of the crash is listed as "unknown" in the OHP collision report. Troopers listed the cause of the collision as "unsafe speed for a curve."
