Alex Cameron

Alex Cameron moved to Oklahoma in 1995 to take a job at News 9 in Oklahoma City as a general assignment reporter. In the years since, Alex has taken on a variety of anchoring duties – from the morning show and weekends to the 4:00 p.m. and noon newscasts. Despite his anchoring roles, Alex’s true passion remains reporting in the field.

As Griffin Media’s Washington Bureau Chief, Alex now brings reports directly from Washington, D.C.

He has covered a wide range of stories, from legislative battles at the Capitol to the challenges facing Oklahoma educators and the impact of severe weather. His reporting has taken him around the world, covering stories in Bosnia, Colorado, Washington D.C., Seattle, New York, and Ukraine. Alex has reported on major events such as the trial of Timothy McVeigh, the acquisition of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Oklahoma National Guard’s efforts to train Ukrainian soldiers.

His profiles of World War II veterans earned recognition from the Oklahoma Veterans Administration and contributed to the dedication of the USS Oklahoma memorial at Pearl Harbor in 2007. From 2009-2019, Alex led the investigative team at News 9, earning regional Emmy awards and the SPJ Oklahoma First Amendment Award.

Originally from the East Coast, Alex grew up in Maryland and New Jersey. He holds a B.A. from Bucknell University and a master’s in journalism from New York University. He began his broadcasting career in radio and quickly transitioned into television in Delaware.

Alex and his wife Ann are committed to community service and, throughout their 25 years living in Oklahoma, were deeply involved with nonprofits committed to literacy, youth development, fitness and animal welfare.

They have two grown children, Sarah and Scott.
