A handful of people came together at Turkey Mountain on Friday to honor the woman who was attacked during her jog on Thursday.

Some ran and some walked for the victim to let her know she has their support.

One mother brought her two children because she wants them to know no one can take away the things they love, and that's what was on display: runners showing up for each other.

The upper parking lot of Turkey Mountain was the meeting spot for anyone who wanted to run or walk in honor of a fellow runner.

"I just want her to know that we're here for her as a community, as a group of runners, as people who love Turkey Mountain," said Liz Cox.

A few minutes after Tulsa Police say a woman jogging through Turkey Mountain was attacked and stabbed, Liz Cox showed up for her weekly run.

"Saw the ambulance leaving, so my whole run yesterday, I was worried, you know, is she okay? What's her status? And that continued on through today," said Cox.

The organizer of the event, Nicholas Geib, also couldn't shake the thought of what happened to the victim. So he planned an honor run to send a message to her.

"You got one step, take one step at a time," he said. "It might even be just to get back into society, but you know, we're here for you. We're a community, and if you want to come back out to Turkey Mountain, just let us know, and we'll be running right with you."

Nick says that’s what makes the running community unique.

"That it doesn't matter, we're going to show up for our loved ones, for our friends, and we're going to do the best we can together as a pack," said Geib.

River Parks says it will be meeting with City of Tulsa officials next week to see if any additional safety measures can be added for people who use Turkey Mountain.

Jesse Brown was taken into custody, still near Turkey Mountain, 12 hours after the attack. According to Tulsa Police, the District Attorney's Office has removed Brown's bond, and he is being held without bond.

Brown was booked into jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
