While Oklahomans across the state brace for sub-freezing temperatures, several News 9 viewers have reached out to share how they have adapted to the cold.

News 9's Alexis Young spoke with Chanel about her and her husband's experience on Wednesday.

Chanel, who lives in Midwest City, said they experienced difficulty even leaving their house early in the morning.

"My husband tried to leave, he had to go get some labs done this morning, and he was parked right in the driveway," Chanel said. "He tried to back out and slid forward. Tried to back out, slid forward, [and] so the last time he tried to back out, it turned him sideways."

Chanel said after some trial and error, her husband attempted to drive through the yard but decided to leave his vehicle after he was unable to get onto the road.

"[He] almost got close to the neighbor's truck, so he just backed up, just left it there," Chanel said.

Instead of going out, Chanel said she and her husband have decided to stay home for the time being.

"It's alright," Chanel said. "I had physical therapy planned today, but no physical therapy. I'm staying warm."
