Two Holland Hall teenage girls are dead and another is in critical condition after a car crashed into a creek near 91st Street and Riverside Drive late Thursday night, Tulsa police said.

Crash Details

Officers responded to the crash around 9:45 p.m. and found the vehicle submerged in the creek.

Investigators said the car, carrying the girls, was traveling north on Riverside when it left the road at 91st Street, rolled, and landed in the creek. Two of the girls died at the scene, while the driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

A witness reported seeing the car traveling at a high rate of speed before it left the roadway.

School Response

The names of the victims have not been released, but officers said the girls were around 17 years old.

In a letter to the community, school leaders at Holland Hall shared the heartbreaking news of the crash, confirming that the three girls involved were juniors at the school. As a result, all Upper School classes were canceled on Friday to provide space for mourning, processing, and support.

School chaplains and counselors are available for students and faculty in need of assistance.

Statement from School Leadership

"I have unimaginable news to share.
And I have no words deep enough to express my sorrow for what this loss means to the Holland Hall community.
Late Thursday evening, three of our juniors were involved in a tragic car accident near 91st and Riverside. Two of these students did not survive. Another remains in critical condition. We will share the names as soon as we have permission from all the families.
We are heartbroken.
We are completely devastated.
Three beautiful children of God—angels among us. Though two have been called home far too soon, their light will never dim in our hearts. As the other fights for recovery, we surround her with our love and prayers.
In their honor, and in their memory, we will move forward with purpose, carrying their spirits in our work, in our classrooms, and in our care for one another. We will strive each day to reflect the kindness, strength, and love they brought into our school community.
Even in the face of such unfathomable loss, we must hold onto one another, care for one another, and support one another. Our community has experienced so much grief this year, but the strength of our bonds will carry us forward.
Friday, all Upper School classes are canceled to allow space for mourning, for processing, and for just being. Our chaplains and counselors will be available in the Upper School for any students or faculty who need support. I encourage you to lean on each other, reach out for help, and make room for grief in whatever way you need.
In moments like these, we turn to our faith and to one another. May we find solace in these words from the Book of Common Prayer:
"Grant, O Lord, to all who are bereaved the spirit of faith and courage, that they may have strength to meet the days to come with steadfastness and patience; not sorrowing as those without hope, but in thankful remembrance of thy great goodness, and in the joyful expectation of eternal life with those they love. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen."
Please hold these families in your hearts, and know that you are not alone. We will walk through this together.
With deepest sorrow, JP[Cullen]"
