Landon Appleby, 19, was arrested on January 29 after a resident of an apartment complex near 12th Street and Alameda claimed someone was attempting to break into their home.
Police captured Appleby after a brief foot pursuit. In the body camera footage, Appleby told officers he was walking through the apartment complex on his way home from Burger King. According to the arrest affidavit, Appleby admitted to committing the burglaries and rape. Police said Appleby told them the motive was to steal money.
Here is a timeline of events:
Sept. 20-29, 2024: Suspect burglarized three homes and allegedly sexually assaulted a woman while she slept.
Oct. 14-17, 2024: Norman police took three burglary reports in one day. The crimes happened in the early morning hours while victims slept.
Dec. 5, 2024: The home invasion victim confronts the suspect while he is in the victim's home. The suspect fled before police arrived.
Jan. 15-29, 2025: Police took five burglary reports and one attempted burglary.
