Tulsa firefighters respond to house fire that killed puppy; family safe

A house fire in Tulsa left a puppy dead, though all residents escaped safely, according to firefighters. Investigators are working to determine what caused the blaze near West 11th Street and 51st West Avenue.

Fire crews are on the scene of a house fire in Tulsa Wednesday morning, where flames tore through a home and killed a family dog.

What we know so far

The fire broke out near West 11th Street and 51st West Avenue around 3 a.m. Firefighters were called to the scene just a short time before arriving to find the house actively burning.

Everyone inside the home managed to get out safely, according to Tulsa Fire officials. However, firefighters say they discovered a puppy dead inside the home after the fire was extinguished.

Cause under investigation

The fire marshal is on site working to determine what sparked the fire. As of now, investigators have not released a cause.

Fire crews are expected to remain at the scene for some time as the investigation continues.
