There is no running water in Hominy because of major damage to the line that brings water to town. The city remains in a state of emergency because of the outage, and crews are trying to work on a repair.
Hominy's water is cut off after heavy rains led to damage to the line that brings water from the lake to the treatment plant, according to emergency management director Felix Nance.
Crews are working on a fix, but there is no timetable for when it will be made. Updates are being posted to the city's Facebook page.
In the meantime, bottles of water have been brought in from donations. People can also fill up jugs from big containers brought in. These resources are located on Highway 99 and Third Street.
"I was going to try to fill my tub," said Jim Sharpnack. "They only have two buffaloes right now. That's for the whole town, so it doesn't feel right getting much more than that."
The Osage Casino and Hotel in Pawhuska and Skiatook is offering free showers to residents without water.
The City of Hominy says it is getting a $1 million grant to make further improvements to the lake and water distribution center. It says the final stages of the plan are underway.
