It's Therapy Thursday, and Dr. Brenda Lloyd-Jones from the University of Oklahoma is back to address your questions. This week, Anne asks about a term you may have heard over the last few years, "impostor syndrome."

"I was promoted to a team of engineers, but now I feel like I don’t belong. I doubt myself and stay quiet-even when I know the answer. Why do I suddenly feel inadequate?"

Dr. Brenda says Anne's feelings are likely rooted in impostor syndrome, a common challenge when taking on new roles.

Dr. Brenda explains that this syndrome is a manifestation of internalized self-doubt rather than a reflection of one's actual abilities. To combat these feelings, she recommends an evidence-based strategy called 'track your wins,' where Anne should document her accomplishments and contributions. This practice will help her regain confidence and remind her of her worth.
