Oklahoma City's long-awaited OKANA Resort and Waterpark opens to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday.
The Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch joined Laura Rudicel, OKANA's director of marketing, to talk about this new fixture of Oklahoma entertainment ahead of its grand ribbon-cutting event.
After months of planning and development, the resort’s grand opening marks the beginning of a new entertainment destination for both families and the community.
"It's emotional," Rudicel said. "A lot of us have work hours and hours, and it's really great just to see it all come to fruition."
Guests can now stay overnight in the hotel so they can enjoy the world-class indoor and outdoor water park, as well as several other entertainment opportunities for the whole family.
"Besides the water park, we’re excited about our other attractions for the community," Laura said. "One of the key spots is our game hall, Okanarama, which has more than 100 arcade games, a two-story laser tag arena, and a prize redemption center. We also have a mirror maze and escape room, perfect for fun with family and friends."
The resort also boasts a variety of dining options and a spa, providing something for everyone. The spa is a separate area from the main attractions, offering a relaxing retreat for guests.
"We have really kind of anything and everything," Rudicel said. "We also have tons of restaurants where people can actually come and just enjoy some really yummy food."
For those looking to enjoy live entertainment, OKANA will feature an outdoor concert series, adding another layer of excitement to the resort's vibrant atmosphere.
In addition to the main attractions, OKANA is offering complimentary activities for guests, such as creating an "aquarium in a jar." Visitors can design their own mini aquatic scene complete with aquarium gravel, decorative animals, and more to make a fun souvenir to take home.
Bookings are available on OKANA's official website, with a ribbon-cutting promotional code offering up to 30% off. Day passes, evening passes, military passes, outdoor day passes, and group passes are available for those who do not wish to book a room.
