Oklahoma City police are investigating two homicides from over the weekend. They said on Monday one man was found shot to death inside a car and the body of the other victim was discovered in a field. Police said the homicides were not connected and involved different circumstances leading to the deaths.

Friday, February 7, 1:00 p.m.

Oklahoma City opened the fourth homicide investigation of the year on Friday afternoon. Someone called 911 after finding 55-year-old Sinh Nguyen slumped over in a car parked at the Granada Village Trailer Park in southwest Oklahoma City.

“Police got there and found the person deceased from a gunshot wound,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department.

Through the investigation, police learned Nguyen was meeting 20-year-old Angel Mares to buy a piece of jewelry. The two arranged the meetup through Facebook Marketplace. Police said Mares lived at the trailer park and the spent shell casing found in the victim's car matched the kind of ammo Mares' gun used.

Police pulled Mares over on a traffic stop the same day.

“That person was arrested later on at northwest 50th and MacArthur,” said Quirk.

Two days later, homicide investigators were called to a body found in a field near I-44 and northwest 36th Street. Police identified the victim as 50-year-old Brian Sparks and said his injuries were consistent with homicide.

“Again, nobody has been arrested in that case,” said Quirk.

Investigators have very few clues in Sparks' death and ask citizens to call the Homicide Tip Line at (405) 297-1200 if they have any information that could help the case. Mares is in custody at the Oklahoma County Detention Center for first-degree murder. The judge denied Mares' bond.
