City Lights Foundation held a fundraising and outreach event at ONEOK Field during a Tulsa Drillers game, using the opportunity to engage with the public and raise support for its services.
The nonprofit, which has operated in Tulsa for more than 12 years, serves people experiencing homelessness through direct outreach, weekly events, and housing support. Volunteers staffed a community table during the game, sharing information and inviting attendees to get involved.
Staff emphasized the need for support during extreme summer heat, saying access to water, shelter, and medical care is more critical than ever for people living unsheltered. Organizers say community awareness and involvement are essential to addressing those needs and reducing stigma.
A portion of ticket sales went toward City Lights’ programs, including its weekly event Night Light Tulsa, which takes place every Thursday downtown. The nonprofit also runs a women’s transitional housing program called Monarch Village and conducts regular street outreach.
Funds raised at the game will support ongoing operations and a planned development called City Lights Village — a permanent housing initiative designed to serve Tulsa’s unhoused population with on-site services and support.
City Lights is actively recruiting volunteers for all four of its programs. More information is available at CitylightsOK.org.
