Broken Arrow police department adds certified therapy dog to support mental wellness

The Broken Arrow Police Department welcomes King, a certified therapy dog, to help provide emotional support to officers, staff and the community.

The Broken Arrow Police Department has officially introduced its newest member. King, a 7-year-old certified therapy dog, is trained to provide emotional support to both law enforcement and the public.

King, a German Shepherd, will work alongside Chaplain Shannon Porterfield to support officers, department staff and community members through scheduled visits and public events.

The department says this addition is part of a broader initiative to prioritize mental wellness in law enforcement.
